Teacher Earns Praise for Helping Student Asking for Food
A female teacher earns praise online after helping a student a student who wrote a heartfelt note asking for food.
Recently, Myo Ren or angaramyoren, a Threads user, shared her experience with a student financially. The post quickly circulated on social media and touched the hearts of the online community.
The teacher, who teaches Junior High School TLE in a public school and handles Grade 7 students, recounted a recent moment that left a lasting impression. During recess, one of her students handed her a letter asking to borrow P10 so he could buy something to eat.
It wasn’t the first time the student had approached her for help. In the past, he had borrowed small amounts for snacks or transportation, and although he always repaid the amount, the teacher never accepted it.
Myo Ren decided to do more this time. She handed him P100 and instructed him to buy a proper meal to ensure he wouldn’t go hungry. To her surprise, the student returned with 90 pesos, having only purchased a small biscuit instead of a full meal.
The young boy’s awareness and reluctance to spend beyond what he felt necessary touched the teacher’s heart. The teacher later learned that the student is often absent from school because he lacks money for daily expenses, such as food or transportation.
The student’s mother also struggles to make ends meet. The teacher encouraged him to come to school regularly, promising to provide him with biscuits and water if needed. She also reflected on the role of educators, emphasizing that their responsibilities often go beyond academics, extending to acts of compassion and support for their students.
In another post, a male teacher compares their life then & now: “ultimo kanin ay walang mailaman sa sikmura”

“I am a Junior high school TLE Teacher, public school, my students are all in Grade 7. I also have advisory class, one advisee gave me this letter while I was taking my break at recess time na rin ng mga bata. This is not the first time that this student asked for 10.00, minsan to buy snack or pamasahe at everytime binabayaran nya ako pero hindi ko tinatanggap. This time, I gave him 100.00, told him to buy rice meal para siguradong busog siya
