Netizens Defend Jollibee After Being Accused of Not Helping Flood Victims in the Philippines
JOLLIBEE – The popular fast-food chain was defended by netizens after being accused of not helping flood victims in the Philippines.
Jollibee, the popular fast-food chain, recently showed support for victims of the wildfires in Los Angeles by giving out free meals. The video quickly spread online and reminded everyone how small acts of kindness can bring comfort in tough times. In the video, Jollibee staff can be seen helping to distribute meals to those affected by the fires. This gesture earned a lot of praise from people online, who appreciated the chain’s efforts to help.
However, there were some who misinterpreted the initiative to help those affected by the massive wildfires in California. A Twitter user with the handle @kiofsite took to the microblogging site, noting: “The way this f*g fast-food chain doesn’t do this when families in the Philippines are being flooded.”
A Facebook page, Service Rants and Raves, exposed the said netizen, calling the attention of Jollibee. Netizens then defended Jollibee, pointing out that the fast-food chain has been helping people for a long time, even though they don’t always publicize it. They mentioned that Jollibee has its own foundation in the Philippines and supports many charity groups.
While the company doesn’t always share pictures of their efforts, they continue to help during times of disaster. Some commenters said that just because people don’t see photos of Jollibee’s actions doesn’t mean they aren’t doing good work. The defenders also criticized those who questioned Jollibee’s intentions, suggesting that they may be unaware of the company’s real contributions.
As of press time, Jollibee has yet to issue any statement regarding the efforts of their staff in Los Angeles, which was severely affected by wildfires in California.
