Heart Attack Claims Life of 8-Year-Old Student in India
INDIA – An 8-year-old student from Ahmedabad tragically passed away while at school, reportedly due to a heart attack.
CCTV footage revealed that the girl, identified as Gargi Tushar Ranpara from Zebar School for Children, was walking with other students and teachers in the school aisle. She then sat down but suddenly slumped over in her chair, seemingly asking for help. One of the teachers quickly noticed her and administered CPR before she was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The school confirmed that the girl died from a heart attack, while local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of her death. “We have launched an investigation on our side and sent her body for postmortem to determine the exact cause of her death,” stated Neeraj Badjugar, Joint Commissioner of Police, Sector 1.
Meanwhile, a heart attack, also known as a myocardial infarction, occurs when blood flow to part of the heart is blocked. This blockage is usually caused by a buildup of fat, cholesterol, and other substances (plaque) in the arteries that carry blood to the heart. When the plaque ruptures, it can form a blood clot that blocks blood flow.
Without enough blood, the heart muscle begins to get damaged or even die. Common signs of a heart attack include pain or discomfort in the chest, trouble breathing, nausea, dizziness, and pain in the arm, jaw, or back. However, some people, especially women or those with diabetes, may not have the typical symptoms.
Risk factors for a heart attack include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, being overweight, lack of exercise, and a family history of heart problems. Quick treatment is important to minimize heart damage. Treatments typically include medications, procedures like angioplasty, or surgery to restore blood flow to the heart.
