Vice Ganda: “Hindi totoong may utang ang It’s Showtime sa GMA”
VICE GANDA – The Phenomenal Box-Office Star firmly denied rumors that “It’s Showtime” owes money to GMA-7, which was allegedly the reason behind speculations that the noontime show’s contract would not be renewed in 2025.
Speculations about the show’s future persist, with claims that the Kapamilya noontime program, led by Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Kim Chiu, and Karylle, will no longer air on GMA next year. However, both Vice Ganda and GMA Senior Vice-President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes dismissed these allegations as baseless.
During a recent “It’s Showtime” episode, Vice Ganda, Vhong, and Kim addressed the issue while admiring the show’s gleaming stage. Vice Ganda joked, “Paano ba namang hindi kukutitap, ang kintab ng stage na to, parang natapunan ng syrup ng hotcake.” Kim agreed, calling it “makinang.” Vice added humorously, “Mas makintab sa bunbunan ko pag 3:30 ng madaling-araw. Budgeted na tayo dito, budgeted.” Vhong chimed in, “Budgeted na tayo dito, umaasenso na tayo.”
With a serious tone, Vice Ganda declared, “Let’s claim it na umaasenso tayo. At hindi totoong may utang ang It’s Showtime sa GMA.” Kim asked, “Oo nga, sino ba kasi nagpakalat nun?” Vice also expressed gratitude to Atty. Annette, saying, “Bongga talaga to si Miss Annette! I love you, Miss Annette. Huwag kayong mag-alala, may pamasko si Miss Annette.”
In a separate interview, Atty. Annette clarified that the delay in the contract renewal was due to pending data. She assured that negotiations were nearly complete, with only minor adjustments remaining. “Pagdating sa ratings, wala kaming problema. Yung ibang mga ano yung ano namin, mas tungkol sa new terms. Sa ratings, walang problema, kasi ang taas-taas ng ratings ng Showtime,” she confirmed, reiterating that the show has no outstanding debt to GMA.
Meanwhile, “It’s Showtime” is a popular Filipino noontime variety show that airs on the Kapamilya Channel and other platforms. Launched in 2009, it features comedy skits, talent contests, and audience participation. The show is known for segments like “Tawag ng Tanghalan” (a singing competition) and “Miss Q & A” (a pageant-like contest).
