Kaila Estrada Defended by Janice de Belen After Being Labeled “Anak ng Cheater”
JANICE DE BELEN – The veteran actress defended her daughter Kaila Estrada after she was labeled as “anak ng cheater.”
Kaila Estrada’s career has been on the rise in 2024, thanks to her standout roles in Linlang and Can’t Buy Me Love. With this newfound recognition, people started calling Kaila and her parents, John Estrada and Janice de Belen, the “Pamilya Kontrabida.”
During a media event for Espantaho (a horror film set to premiere at the 2024 MMFF), Janice was asked about the public’s reaction to her daughter’s success. She laughed it off, saying, “OK lang kaysa wala kaming galing. Ha! Ha! Ha! OK lang!” But when the conversation shifted to a more personal topic, Janice’s tone became more serious.
Recently, Kaila found herself at the center of memes mocking the drama surrounding Incognito, the teleserye she stars in. Some even suggested changing the title to “Cheaters” because of the ongoing issue involving Maris Racal, Anthony Jennings, and his ex-girlfriend, Jamela Villanueva. As Kaila’s mother, Janice couldn’t help but feel upset by the label “anak ng cheater” (child of a cheater) being attached to her daughter. With a gentle but firm response, Janice shared, ” You know, I hate that people brand other people something like that. Just because… Sana wala kang pagkakamali pag nagba-brand kang ganun. Sana wala kang pagkakamali. Kasi it’s unfair. It’s unfair.”
She went on to explain how damaging these labels can be, especially in the age of social media, where people are quick to judge. “You know, when you brand people, you damage their reputation,” Janice said. She reflected on how social media, once created to connect people and share knowledge, has turned into a place of negativity and hate. “But now it’s becoming a place of hate,” she added sadly, calling on everyone to be kinder.
According to PEP.ph, Janice also urged people to lift each other up instead of tearing each other down, adding, “Kaya pilitin na lang natin na happy thoughts ang i-post natin.” Despite all the online toxicity, Janice’s support for Kaila remains unwavering, and she continues to stand by her daughter as she navigates the challenges of fame.
