Malacañang Releases List of Local Holidays 2024 in Specific Cities
LOCAL HOLIDAYS 2024 – Malacañang issued the list of special non-working days in specific cities in the Philippines this November and December.
Holidays mean differently to many people and, undeniably, there are a lot of individuals who check on the list of holidays ahead of the year or month. When it comes to holidays, there are two (2) main categories and several types. The categories include the national holiday and local holiday.
As its name suggests, national holidays cover the whole country. Regular holidays which are often national holidays include the suspension of classes in all schools across the nation and all public and private offices around the country. Meanwhile, those employees who need to report to work are entitled for an extra pay based on the holiday pay rules in the Philippines.
With regards to local holidays, they are the holidays that were declared in specific cities, municipalities, or an area. Thus, the holiday provisions do not include the whole nation. Meanwhile, employees who work on a special non-working day which is a local holiday may still be subject to an additional pay on top of their basic pay for the day.
The holidays are under the approval of the president. Recently, Malacañang released a series of proclamation declaring holidays including local holidays and the Philippine holidays in 2025. The proclamations were signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin by the authority of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
