Pres. Bongbong Marcos Wishes Gov’t “Could Do More” in Response to the Impact of Kristine
BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President admitted his unsatisfaction on the government response to tropical storm Kristine.
This year, one of the strongest natural calamities that have hit the Philippines is severe tropical storm Kristine. It caused deep flooding in several areas around the Philippines. It brought heavy rains and strong winds that left many regions devastated.
Albay, Batangas, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, and Sorsogon are among the areas severely-hit by Kristine. In Naga, the flooding in low-lying areas reached roof level that left countless residents stuck in their roof for hours. The evacuees in a shopping mall in Naga also had to transfer to another floor of the building as the floodwater came in.
In Camella Subdivision in Naga, several cars bumped against each other amid the deep flooding. Countless families lost their homes and livelihoods to the natural calamity. The national government assured the victims of Kristine of help in recovering from the impacts of the tropical storm.
However, recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos admitted that he is still not satisfied with the government response to the impact of severe tropical storm Kristine in the Philippines. He expressed his hope that the government can do more.
Based on a report on GMA News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos was asked if he was satisfied with the government response on the effects of Kristine to the Philippines. According to the Chief Executive, he wishes that the government can do more.
”I’ll tell you the truth, it’s never enough… I wish we could do more… we’re doing everything that we can, when you lose a life, you lose a life… what can you do about it?” Marcos said.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos also added that “it’s a terrible tragedy” as per the report. At least 140 people died due to the wrath of severe tropical storm Kristine and at least 91 were left injured by the natural calamity. There are also around 19 individuals who are still missing.
Recently, Senator Imee Marcos blamed PAGASA over the severe impacts of TS Kristine. According to the presidential Sister, if PAGASA could have released more warnings, many people could have been evacuated and saved from the wrath of the natural calamity.
