Sharon Cuneta Shares Story of LA Flight W/ Doctor Seatmate Unaware of Her Celebrity Status
SHARON CUNETA – Megastar Sharon Cuneta shared the story of her LA flight with a doctor seatmate unaware of her fame.
During a recent flight from Manila to Los Angeles, Sharon Cuneta, a beloved Filipina actress and singer, had a memorable experience sitting beside Dr. Luna, a fellow passenger unaware of her celebrity status. Sharon shared this heartwarming encounter on social media after discovering a post written by Dr. Luna’s child, recounting the event.
“I met this very sweet lady, Dr. Luna, on my PAL flight to LAX. We were seatmates, and it was a pleasure flying beside her!” Sharon began her post. She recounted how she introduced herself simply as “Sharon” and offered her help to Dr. Luna, should she need anything throughout the journey.
Sharon Cuneta explained that her genuine, down-to-earth nature stems from her parents’ upbringing, and this is how she honors their memory.
Dr. Luna’s child revealed that her mother hadn’t initially recognized her famous seatmate, as she seldom watches local Filipino shows. At one point during the flight, Dr. Luna requested to have her snack in the galley to avoid disturbing Sharon’s sleep. It was only after an attendant informed Dr. Luna that she realized her seatmate’s identity.
“When she walked back, she greeted me with a cheerful ‘Good Morning!’ After which she immediately said ‘You know, I have to apologize to you! I didn’t know I was seated beside the ‘great’ (her word not mine!) Sharon Cuneta!” the actress said.

Sharon Cunera reassured her seatmate, explaining that she doesn’t expect everyone she meets to know who she is. Her humility shone through as she explained that she introduces herself as her authentic self, not the “celebrity Sharon.”
Their initial surprise evolved into a meaningful conversation, where Dr. Luna shared stories from her teenage years up to her current life. This connection, Sharon said, brought smiles throughout the flight. She ended her post with fond words for Dr. Luna: “I am happy to have met you, Dr. Luna. If and when I become 87, I pray that I be just as sharp, strong, and beautiful as you! I will never forget you.”
Dr. Luna’s child also noted that Sharon graciously helped with her mother’s luggage and posed for photos, cementing a cherished memory for all.
