Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte Reacts To Allegation over his Admin’s Drug War
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former President reacted to the accusation that he is giving rewards to the police over his administration drug war.
Among the many programs and campaigns of the Duterte administration, undeniably, its campaign against the drugs is the one that has hooked the people and his admin is most popular of. Even before he came president, former Pres. Duterte was already vocal in his pursuit to eradicate the presence of the illegal substance in the country.
Duterte has served Davao City for decades before he became president. He has implemented his war on drugs campaign in the city before it became a national campaign after his landslide victory during the 2016 presidential election.
However, the said campaign during his term as president gained different criticisms. Recently, his former aide and now Senator Bong Go defended former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte against the criticisms over his war on drugs campaign.
Go stressed that everyone alleged clapped and were in standing ovation during the previous State of the Nation Address (SONA) of the former Chief Executive whenever he would mention his campaign against drugs. The Senator raised a question over why Duterte is being blamed now.
Previously, retired police colonel Royina Garma claimed that the war on drugs was allegedly implement on a rewards system among the Philippine National Police (PNP) members. Based on a report on GMA News, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte denied the said allegations.
Duterte denied giving rewards among the police for a mission accomplished. Based on the report, the former President claimed that the police does not like being given money so what he usually does to show his appreciation to their performance is to treat them with food and drinks.
“‘Yang sinasabi nilang reward, walang reward ‘yan. Hindi ako magbibigay ng reward… ‘Pag mission accomplished, yayain ko sila sa restaurant, magkain kami and I congratulate them,” he told the Sonshine Media Network International.
Based on the report, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte said that policemen love to drink so it can be the reward for them. He stressed that cops are shy to accept cash rewards.
Recently, former PNP chief and now Sen. Bato dela Rosa expressed his intention to launch a Senate probe on the Duterte drug war. It earned him criticisms as he is also one of those who are accused regarding the implementation of the campaign.
