After Several Years, Kerwin Espinosa Changes Statement & Apologized To Ex-Sen. Leila de Lima
KERWIN ESPINOSA – The self-proclaimed drug lord retracted his statement against former Senator Leila de Lima and apologized to her.
One of the biggest issues in politics that hooked the attention of countless people in 2017 was the pool of drug allegation against then-Senator Leila de Lima. Several people made claims that accused De Lima of illegal drug trade involvement.
During the height of the investigation, then-Sen. De Lima and then-President Rodrigo Roa Duterte were political enemies. She was a staunch critic of the Duterte administration and its war against drugs. The former Senator tagged the allegations as part of discriminating her in the political scene.
De Lima was detained in the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Facility for 6 years. The PNP detention room of De Lima was the same room occupied by Alice Guo when the former Bamban mayor was detained there.
After several years, all the charges against former Sen. Leila de Lima were dismissed. It was in November 2023 when she was released after she was allowed to post bail for her temporary freedom.
Several individuals who testified against De Lima retracted their statements. Recently, self-proclaimed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa retracted her statement against former Sen. Leila de Lima. Espinosa claimed that Sen. Bato dela Rosa who was the PNP chief then alleged forced him to pin down De Lima.
According to the son of slain Albuera mayor Rolando Espinosa, Dela Rosa allegedly fetched him and they rode a white bullet-proofed Land Cruiser. He claimed that the then-PNP Chief forced him to link De Lima and Peter Lim in the drug trade case if he does not want to have the same fate as his father.
The former Albuera Mayor was killed in his jail cell during a raid. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, as he retracted his statement against former Sen. Leila de Lima, Kerwin Espinosa apologized to the former senator.
“Patawarin n’yo po ako na nadala, nauto-uto sa panahon na ‘yun, na idamay ka po, na walang katotohanan naman… Sorry, ma’am,” he said.
Based on the report, Kerwin Espinosa also said that he is ready to face whatever plan De Lima has.
