Amid the issues and accusations, the allies of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has continually defended the former chief executive. Senator Bong Go previously defended Duterte saying there was “standing ovation” then when the then-President would mention about his war on drugs in his speeches for SONA.

The lawmaker stressed questions asking why the former President is being blamed and why he is allegedly alone now. Go was the long-time aide of the former Chief Executive and has been with him even before he became president.

Amid the issues, based on a report on PhilStar, the House QuadComm has formally invited former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte into a hearing over the war on drugs.

“The joint committee respectfully invites you to attend the inquiry to provide valuable insights and shed light on the issues under discussion,” part of the letter invitation signed by House Rep. Robert Ace Barbers said.

The House QuadComm invitation was dated October 18. Based on the report, Barbers told Duterte to submit to the secretariat of the committee beforehand if he has a presentation or an opening statement. Duterte nor his camp has yet to issue a statement.

In the Senate, Sen. Bong Go has filed a resolution seeking for the investigation of the Duterte drug war. He stressed that the campaign has positive impacts in the society but the questions regarding the campaign must be shed light on.

Prior to Go filing a Senate resolution, Senator Bato dela Rosa who is also a close ally of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed an intent to launch a probe on the drug war of the previous administration. Dela Rosa was the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during Duterte’s term thus, countless people have negative reactions on the senator’s plan.
