Sen. Bato dela Rosa previously expressed a desire for a Senate investigation on the Duterte war on drugs. However, it earned negative comments from many people including former Senator Leila de Lima who stressed that Dela Rosa is also one of the accused if he will be a judge in the probe.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte previously denied that the war on drugs was implemented on a rewards system. The cops allegedly received between Php 20,000 to P 1 million.

Recently, Sen. Bong Go filed the Senate Resolution No. 1217. Based on a report on GMA News, the said resolution directs the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs to conduct a probe on the war on drugs of the Duterte administration in aid of legislation.

Go is the committee’s vice chairman. He stressed that the war on drugs “became the bedrock of the Duterte administration , which delivered a strong message that has resonated deeply with many Filipinos, fueled by their escalating frustration over the worsening drug crisis”.

Sen. Bong Go further stressed that the anti-drugs campaign of the Duterte administration has good effects and the Filipinos can now go home to their families safe. He believes that the “good work that was started must be continued” wherein the people who commit crimes are the ones who afraid while the innocent ones are leaving in peace.

According to Go, the Senate investigation aims to check on the conduct of the drug war for the lawmakers to be able “to identify possible legislations” to address the drug problem in the Philippines in a more holistic manner. Based on the report, he stressed that the campaign has brought significant benefits.

“Ang taumbayan na po ang humusga kung nakinabang ba ang Pilipino sa ginawang strong stance against illegal drugs noong panahon ni dating pangulong Duterte,” the Senator said.

Sen. Bong Go previously defended former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte saying the people were in “standing ovation” whenever he mentioned the war on drugs during his six (6) State of the Nation Address (SONA) speeches.
