Senate Panel Sends Letters To Courts Handling Apollo Quiboloy Cases over Hearing
APOLLO QUIBOLOY – The Senate panel confirmed that it has requested the Courts to allow the Pastor to attend the hearing.
Currently, two (2) high-profile personalities with arrest orders are now in the custody of the Philippine authorities. One of them is Pastor Apollo Quiboloy who was arrested by the PNP in September. He was in hiding for several months prior to his arrest.
Quiboloy who is faced with multiple complaints is currently detained in the PNP Custodial Facility. His arrest came amid intensified search ops launched by the PNP inside the Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound in Davao City. The Pastor is the founder and leader of the KOJC.
The intensified search ops of the Philippine National Police supposedly include drilling operations inside the KOJC compound. According to Attorney Israelito Torreon, the lawyer of the Pastor and his church, Quiboloy made an “ultimate sacrifice” as the Pastor could no longer see the situation of his members and the church.
Previously, it earned backlash when it was announced that Quiboloy will remain to be detained in the PNP Custodial Facility while his co-accused will be transferred to Pasig City Jail. His camp also previously expressed an intent to appeal for the transfer of his custody to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) or a house arrest for the Pastor citing his age. He is currently 74 years of age.
Recently, after putting the investigation on the complaints against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy on pause for several months now, the Senate announced asking the permission of the Courts handling the cases against the KOJC leader.
Based on a report on GMA News, Senator Risa Hontiveros confirmed that the Senate panel has written letters to the two (2) courts handling the cases against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. The committee sought the permision of Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 Judge Elma Mendoza Rafallo-Lingan and Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 106 Judge Noel Parel to allow the Pastor to appear in the next Senate hearing.
The Senate panel held hearings on January 23, February 19, and March 5. The committee stopped the inquiry while the authorities were in search for the Pastor.
Amid his detention, the Pastor filed his candidacy for senator in the 2025 Midterm Elections. According to his lawyer who filed his Certificate of Candidacy, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy will be the senator for the poor and ordinary Filipinos and workers.
