Cebu City Teacher Accused of Biting Students After Refusal to Show Abs
CEBU CITY – A teacher at Don Vicente Rama National High School in Brgy. Basak Pardo is facing serious allegations of physically assaulting students by biting them.
The accusations center on a Music, Arts, and Physical Education (MAPEH) teacher who reportedly bit two male students on their shoulder blades and nape. Barangay Captain Dave Tumulak confirmed that an investigation is ongoing following these claims.
The incident allegedly took place on August 30, when the teacher summoned the students to a classroom and asked them to lift their shirts so he could inspect their abs. When the students refused, the teacher is said to have become enraged and bit them. The complaint was lodged by a parent of one of the students, who is also a police officer. This parent provided a medical certificate as evidence of the bite marks on the student’s body. The families of the affected students are contemplating formal legal action against the teacher.
In a video message, Tumulak revealed that an administrative action has been initiated against the teacher. The teacher, however, has denied the allegations. He claimed that he accidentally tripped and fell onto the students’ backs, which led to the injuries, and that the biting was unintentional.
Tumulak has stressed the importance of professionalism in the teaching profession and the need for teachers to set a positive example for their students. The administration of Don Vicente Rama National High School has also started its own investigation into the matter and has taken steps to address the situation.
CDN Digital has decided not to disclose the identities of the students and their families to safeguard their privacy. The case underscores the critical need for a thorough investigation to ensure that educational environments remain safe and respectful for all students.
