Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Insists the Filipino People Knows Her
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President reacted to the tag that she is allegedly a “spoiled brat” following the spar with Senate and House members.
Vice Pres. Duterte previously had heated exchange of remarks with some members of the Senate and the House of Representatives during the budget deliberation for the 2025 Budget Proposal of her office. According to the budget department, the office of Vice Pres. Duterte is requesting a P2 billlion budget for the year 2025.
The budget of the Office of the Vice President was grilled in the previous years following the controversial spending of its multi-million confidential funds. According to the Department of Budget and Management, the OVP budget proposal has zero confidential funds.
The budget proposal of every office and department of the government undergoes scrutiny during the Senate and the House of Representatives hearings. However, in the case of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) budget proposal deliberation, the questioning led to a spar between Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Senator Risa Hontiveros, and some members of the House.
The OVP budget proposal went through the budget deliberation at the Senate first. However, during the budget deliberation at the upper chamber, Vice Pres. Duterte and Sen. Risa Hontiveros had a spar with heated arguments after the latter noticed the similarity of the assistance programs of the OVP with the other government agencies.
Sen. Hontiveros moved for the re-allocation of the assistance program funds to the relevant agencies. The lawmaker questioning the P10 million budget allotted for the distribution of the book authored by Vice Pres. Duterte seemingly did not sit well with the Vice President.
At the hearing of the House of Representatives, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also had a spar of heated arguments with some of the House members. ACT Teachers Partylist Representative France Castro did not like the Vice President not answering or her answers to the questions.
The recent incidents earned Vice Pres. Duterte the tag “spoiled brat”. Several netizens had negative reactions to the Vice President’s behavior on the questioning of the OVP’s budget proposal.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reacted to the “spoiled brat” tag. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, here’s what the Vice President said:
“Alam ng taong bayan na hindi ako bratinella o “spoiled brat” dahil kilala nila ako simula nung ako ay nasa Davao pa simula nung ako ay mayor pa hanggang naging vice president ako… Kilala ako ng taong bayan na hindi ko inaabuso ang aking power at ang aking authority sa lahat ng mga opisina na nahawakan ko,” the Vice President said.
