NBI Says Alice Guo Used Lookalike Or Doppelgänger

Alice Guo Accused of Using Doppelgänger to Avoid Authorities — NBI

ALICE GUO – The agents of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Alice Guo allegedly used doppelgänger or lookalike to avoid authorities.

Former mayor Alice Guo allegedly used a lookalike to evade arrest, according to NBI agents who interrogated her in Indonesia before her return to the Philippines.

On September 5, NBI operatives interrogated Guo while awaiting approval from Indonesia’s immigration authorities. They inquired about a notarized document, her supposed use of a doppelgänger, and an NBI clearance issued under her name.

Lito Magno, NBI assistant director for investigation, showed Guo a photo of a woman who looked like her and asked if it was her. Guo denied it, joking that the person in the photo was a staff member and called her a “slimmer version” of herself.

Based on a report from Philippine Star, an NBI source indicated that the controversial politician may have used lookalikes to confuse authorities from the Bureau of Immigration, NBI, and Philippine National Police, helping her avoid detection during investigations.

In June, the NBI Dactyloscopy Unit confirmed that fingerprints on an NBI clearance under the name “Alice Guo” matched those of “Guo Hua Ping,” establishing that they were the same person.

Alice Guo was arrested by local police in Tangerang, Indonesia, on September 4 and handed over to Philippine authorities the next day. She was returned to the Philippines on September 6 and is currently held by the Philippine National Police at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Guo is facing several legal charges, including alleged involvement in a raid on a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) hub in Bamban, money laundering, tax evasion, and falsifying information in her candidacy papers. Additionally, she has a Senate arrest order for frequently missing hearings related to the POGO raid.

After her arrest, Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco expressed hope that Guo’s testimony in Senate and House hearings would clarify how she managed to leave the country. He also noted that the ongoing investigations are expected to reveal more details about her illegal departure.

Guo also faces deportation charges at the BI for undesirability and misrepresentation.
