Lost Cat Travels More Than 1,000 Kilometers to Return Home
AMUSING JOURNEY – A lost cat named Rayne Beau traveled more than 1,200 kilometers to return home.
The two-year-old adventurous Siamese cat disappeared from the Fishing Bridge RV Park in Yellowstone National Park, USA on June 4, 2024.
Rayne Beau’s owners, Susanne and Benny Anguiano from Salinas, California, searched for him tirelessly for five days within the park but were unable to find their beloved pet. They were heartbroken, feeling as if they had left him behind.
“We had to leave without him. That was the hardest day because I felt like I was abandoning him,” Anguianos said.
The cat and his sibling, Starr, had been rescued by the couple when they were only three months old, making this loss especially painful.
A month after Rayne Beau went missing, the Anguianos decided to adopt another cat to keep Starr company. To their surprise, they received a call from the Placer Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Roseville, California.
They informed the couple that a cat with Rayne Beau’s identification number had been found wandering the streets, over 1,200 kilometers away from where he had disappeared.
A kind woman discovered Rayne Beau and took him to the pet rescue, where staff members were able to contact the Anguianos thanks to his microchip. When they were reunited, Susanne was overwhelmed with joy.
Although Rayne Beau had lost significant weight during his journey, dropping from nearly six kilograms to just three—he was back home safe.
The Anguianos are thrilled to have Rayne Beau back and feel grateful every day, cherishing their beloved pet and the miracle of his return.
“We are ecstatic to have him back. I look at him every day and am so grateful and tell him, ‘Do you know how many weeks I had been praying to see that face again?” the two added.
