KOJC Lawyer Calls for Boycott of Chooks-to-Go Over Ad Featuring Quiboloy
ATTY. MARK TOLENTINO – The legal counsel of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) has called for a boycott of Chooks-to-Go, accusing the company of unethical and irresponsible advertising.
The controversy arose when Chooks-to-Go allegedly used an image of KOJC founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy to promote their roasted chicken. Tolentino claims this act is considered a form of cybercrime and has demanded that the company issue a public apology. If Chooks-to-Go fails to do so, legal action will be taken against them.
The advertisement has since been removed from the company’s social media page. This is not the first instance of the company facing such accusations, as they previously used the image of former Mayor Alice Guo for a similar promotion. KOJC insists on accountability from the company for what they view as unethical advertising practices.
On September 8, 2024, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and several members of his group were apprehended in Davao City following a series of coordinated police raids at his compound. After receiving a 24-hour ultimatum from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Quiboloy turned himself in to the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) and was subsequently transferred to Camp Crame. His arrest is part of ongoing legal actions involving multiple criminal charges filed against him and his associates.
Despite a court order directing Quiboloy’s relocation to the New Quezon City Jail, he will remain detained at Camp Crame. Earlier, the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 106 had issued a transfer order for Quiboloy and his co-accused, Cresente Canada, to the Bagong Silangan jail facility in Quezon City. Furthermore, Judge Noel Parel ordered that Quiboloy’s other co-defendants, Jackielyn Roy, Ingrid Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes, be moved to the Quezon City Jail-Female Dormitory located at Camp Karingal.
