Atty. Stephen David, Alice Guo’s Lawyer, Asserts Client Remains Innocent “Unless Proven Otherwise”
Alice Guo’s lawyer, Atty. Stephen David, appealed to the public to refrain from making “baseless accusations” against his client.
The pursuit of the Philippine and Indonesian law enforcement authorities have resulted to the arrest of former Mayor Alice Guo in Indonesia. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) previously confirmed that the authorities are already talking about the turn-over of the former Mayor.
Guo is expected to be sent home to the Philippines either today, Thursday, or Friday. Undeniably, countless Filipinos are looking forward to the former Mayor facing the accusations against her. There are multiple complaints in line with her alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in Tarlac and her questionable identity.
Former Mayor Alice Guo reportedly left the Philippines in July amid several complaints filed against her. Her name was also on the immigration lookout bulletin when she was able to depart the country. According to the Bureau of Immigration, there are no records of the former Mayor passing by the immigration.
Shortly after the departure of Guo was confirmed, her supposed sister, Shiela Guo, and Cassandra Li Ong were detained in Indonesia. It was also believed then that the former Mayor was also in Indonesia. Shiela and Cassandra who both denied strong ties with Guo and the illegal POGO were sent back to the Philippines.
According to Shiela, Alice is not her biological sister and the former Mayor’s sister is just her “foster father”. She claimed that she went to the Philippines to work in an embroidery business as per the order of her “father”. Cassandra claimed that she is the girlfriend of Wesley Guo, the brother of Alice.
The Filipinos now await the return of former Mayor Alice Guo in the Philippines. Recently, Alice Guo’s lawyer, Attorney Stephen David, expressed his confidence that his client will answer all the accusations and charges against her.
“We trust that Alice L. Guo will demonstrate her courage and resilience in the face of adversity and in properly answering the charges and accusations against her,” the legal counsel of the former Mayor said.
According to Alice Guo’s lawyer, the former Mayor is “innocent …unless proven otherwise”. David stressed that under the 1987 Constitution, Guo has the right to be represented in court by her chosen legal counsel and to prove her innocence before the courts of law.
Based on the report, Alice Guo’s lawyer appeals to the public to “refrain from making crude and malicious comments and baseless accusations”. According to David, his client will answer all the charges and accusations in the proper forum.
