SKATEBOARDING WITH A TRUCK? – A video showing two young men skateboarding and holding onto the back of a speeding truck on a highway near the Bijoy Sarani metro station in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, has gone viral online.
At one point, one of the skaters lets go of the truck to showcase his skating skills before grabbing back onto the vehicle. He even waves at the person filming the video.
The tweet warned that if the skaters had fallen under the truck, their families would struggle to identify them and might file a case against the truck. It emphasized the dangers of such reckless behavior and called for action to be taken.
Many netizens expressed concern over the reckless behavior of the two young men, who clearly showed no fear of danger. A news outlet verified the authenticity of the video, confirming it was recorded by a concerned citizen before being tweeted.
The video clip has amassed 826.6K views, 43 quotes, 220 bookmarks, 1,893 reposts, and 3,994 likes. One commenter praised the skater’s impressive skills, wishing he could use them more constructively. Another noted the skater’s balance and talent, suggesting they should be better utilized. However, the same commenter also criticized their actions as reckless, putting themselves and others at risk.
Another person expressed frustration, questioning how the individuals could be both talented and reckless simultaneously. According to reports from Bangladeshi media, the authorities in Dhaka have yet to comment on the viral video.
Meanwhile, skateboarding should be done in designated skate parks or areas specifically designed for this activity. These environments offer smooth surfaces, ramps, rails, and other features that allow skaters to practice safely and creatively.
Skate parks reduce the risk of accidents that can occur on busy streets or public spaces not meant for skateboarding. Additionally, they provide a community space for skaters to learn from each other and improve their skills. Ensuring skateboarding is done in appropriate locations promotes safety for both skaters and the general public while encouraging the sport’s positive aspects.
