VP Sara Duterte Speaks on Purpose of Book She Authored
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President told the public to tune in another book that she will write and it will be about the betrayal of a friend.
The recent exchange of heated remarks between Vice Pres. Duterte and Senator Risa Hontiveros hooked the attention of the public. It happened during the Senate finance committee’s hearing over the 2025 budget proposal of the Office of the Vice President.
Hontiveros noticed that some of the assistance programs of the Office of the Vice President are similar with the assistance programs provided by the other agencies of the government. Duterte cited politicizing as the reason behind the OVP’s decision to have a separate assistance programs.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, there were events when the referrals from the Office of the President were denied by the government agencies. For 2025, the OVP is seeking a total budget of P2 billion. Previously, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said that the 2025 budget proposal of the OVP does not Confidential Funds.
During the Senate finance committee’s hearing on the proposed budget of the OVP for 2025, Sen. Risa Hontiveros also mentioned the P10 million fund allotted for the distribution of the book written by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The said book was entitled Isang Kaibigan.
The OVP intends to distribute the book to the learners. It received criticisms from countless people considering the huge budget set for its distribution. Amid her book, Isang Kaibigan, getting social media attention, the Vice President said that she will write another book.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that the pursuit is to encourage the learners to read. She also asserted that it is very easy to write a short story and there is no need to copy from other materials. According to her, the problem is not the book but the learners’ difficulties when it comes to reading.
“Abangan ninyo ang susunod kong isusulat na libro tungkol sa pagtataksil ng isang kaibigan,” the Vice President said.
Amid the criticisms, the OVP defended the book of Vice Pres. Duterte. It also shared that it was the story used by the Vice President in her storytelling when she visited schools when she was still the secretary of the Department of Education.
