BIR Speaks on Mayor Alice Guo’s Property Selling

BIR – The Bureau of Internal Revenue filed a Php 500,000 tax evasion complaint against dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.

Amid the multiple complaints filed against her and a pending arrest order issued by the Senate, dismissed Mayor Alice Guo has yet to surface. Previously, Guo’s lawyer announced that she has ruled out attending future Senate hearings.

Senator Risa Hontiveros even urged Guo to surrender to the authorities saying she cannot have peace of mind while hiding amid the accusations. The dismissed Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac is accused of her alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town.

Furthermore, Guo is also facing questions about her identity. According to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the dismissed Mayor’s fingerprints matched with the fingerprints of Chinese national Guo Hua Ping.

Guo denied all the allegations against her. She claimed that she grew up in a farm and she was under homeschooling. Her statements event went trending on social media as many netizens made fun of her claims.

The dismissed Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac skipped two (2) Senate hearings thus, she was cited for contempt. Senate President Chiz Escudero approved the release of an arrest order against Guo. However, the authorities failed to locate her in all her registered addresses.

Recently, the Office of the Ombudsman ruled for the dismissal of Mayor Alice Guo after finding her guilty for grave misconduct. The camp of the Mayor has yet to comment on the ruling of the Ombudsman. The verdict includes the forfeiture of her retirement benefits.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Bureau of Internal Revenue or BIR filed a Php 500,000 tax evasion complaint against dismissed Mayor Alice Guo. According to the tax-collecting bureau, it is due to the admission of the dismissed Mayor that she transferred her shares in Baofu Land Development Inc. to a certain Jack Uy.

According to BIR, they found that the transfer did not include capital gains tax (CGT) and documentary stamp tax (DST) returns. Based on the report, aside from dismissed Mayor Guo and a certain Jack Uy, the complaint included Rachelle Joan Malonzo Carreon, the corporate secretary of Baofu.

Currently, the BIR was auditing the other businesses of dismissed Mayor Alice Guo. She may be facing other tax complaints.

“Due process will be given to Guo. However, if she fails to pay her tax deficiencies, the BIR will proceed to file another criminal case for tax evasion,” the bureau said.
