After His Health Crisis, Arnold Clavio Has Returned to Work
ARNOLD CLAVIO – The veteran broadcaster has made a comeback to his work after nearly two months of recovery from a hemorrhagic stroke he experienced on June 11, 2024. His return was marked by an appearance on GMA-7’s daily morning program Unang Hirit on Monday, August 5, 2024. Clavio had taken a temporary leave to focus on his health following the stroke, which left him with significant challenges, particularly with his right arm.
In a segment of Unang Hirit, his colleagues Lyn Ching, Susan Enriquez, Shaira Diaz, and Ivan Mayrina warmly welcomed him back and checked on his well-being. Clavio shared that he is still dealing with problems in his right arm, estimating that it has recovered about 80-90 percent. He continues to undergo rehabilitation and occupational therapy due to the limited sensation in his right hand and fingers. Using a cane for support, Clavio described it as his “BFF,” providing him with courage and stability. He also mentioned his fear of falling if he stands for too long, indicating that balance remains a concern.
During his time away, Clavio has come to appreciate the smaller things in life that he previously took for granted. Reflecting on his experience, he highlighted the importance of monitoring one’s health, sharing that he was asymptomatic and unaware of his condition until it was critical. He emphasized that life is short and can change in an instant, urging people to make the most of the second chances they receive.
Clavio expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue his life and career, viewing it as a bonus and an offering to God. He remarked on how his outlook on forgiveness and love has shifted, seeing more goodness in people and valuing kindness.
In his message, Clavio advised everyone to regularly check their blood pressure and prioritize their health, noting the high costs associated with hospitalization. He concluded by thanking those who prayed for him and affirming his faith, stating, “God is good all the time.”
