Rowena Guanzon has an appeal to witches and sorcerers
ROWENA GUANZON – The former Comelec commissioner and P3PWD party-list nominee has called on witches and sorcerers to help combat corrupt officials in the country.
Rowena Guanzon is a distinguished lawyer, public servant, and politician known for her significant contributions to Philippine governance. Born on August 29, 1957, in Cadiz, Negros Occidental, Guanzon has built a robust career marked by key roles in government institutions.
She began her public service journey as the mayor of Cadiz from 1986 to 1992, becoming one of the youngest mayors in the Philippines at the age of 28. Guanzon later pursued higher education, earning degrees in law from the University of the Philippines Diliman and a master’s in public administration from Harvard University, where she excelled as an Edward S. Mason fellow.
Guanzon’s expertise in governance and law led to her appointments as a commissioner at the Commission on Audit (COA) and subsequently at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) from 2015 to 2022. Her tenure at COMELEC was marked by her involvement in high-profile electoral cases and her advocacy for clean and fair elections in the Philippines.
Beyond her governmental roles, Guanzon is a noted legal scholar and educator, having taught Election Law and Local Government at UP Diliman. She remains actively involved in Philippine politics through her association with the P3PWD party-list and continues to contribute to legal discourse through her published works.
Recently, Rowena Guanzon took to social media to call on witches and sorcerers to help combat corrupt officials in the country. “Tinatawagan ko ang mga mangkukulam at mambabarang, kung mahal niyo pa ang Pilipinas,” Guanzon said in a Facebook post on Sunday, July 14.
Guanzon mentioned that they should not fear using their dark powers. “Pakipahirapan naman ang mga korap na pulitiko na nagpapahirap sa bansa ito, tutal di naman kayo makukulong.,” Guanzon added.
