WHERE’S THE VICE PRESIDENT? – The hashtag #NasaanAngBisePresidente is currently trending on X (formerly known as Twitter) as netizens are searching for Vice President Sara Duterte.
In the past few days, Typhoon Carina, combined with the southwest monsoon or habagat, wreaked havoc in different parts of the country, particularly the National Capital Region or Metro Manila. As a result, most of the cities and localities in Luzon affected by the extreme weather disturbance were drenched in floodwaters.
At the height of the typhoon, netizens took to Twitter (now known as X) to express their longing for the presence of the Vice President. Apparently, Sara Duterte and her family flew to Germany on Wednesday, July 24, as Typhoon Carina caused relentless rains and severe flooding in the National Capital Region and nearby provinces.
Duterte was seen at Ninoy Aquino International Airport with her husband, lawyer Manases Carpio, their children, and her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman. Their flight to Dubai departed at 1:50 a.m. From Dubai, the Vice President and her family took a connecting flight to Munich, Germany.
Meanwhile, the hashtag #NasaanAngBisePresidente is trending on X as netizens “miss” her presence during such a crisis. Some even compared her to former Vice President Leni Robredo, who was active in helping the victims of natural disasters. Some defended the Vice President, noting that her office, or OVP, is extending help to those in need.
Vice President Sara Duterte has not yet released a statement regarding her trip. To recall, on Monday, July 22, Duterte skipped the third State of the Nation Address by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and instead attended the wake of Bohol Vice Governor Dionisio Victor Balite in Bohol. Her office mentioned that she did not view Marcos’ SONA on any of her devices or on television.
