Delivery Rider Eats Customer’s Food
AMAN BIRENDRA JAISWAL – The entrepreneur was shocked to find a delivery rider from Ola Foods eating the food he had ordered.
Aman, a resident of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, shared a video on Instagram on July 21, 2024, capturing the driver casually consuming his meal. The driver, associated with Ola Cabs, had initially demanded an extra 10 rupees for the delivery, which Aman reluctantly agreed to after some hesitation. Despite paying the additional amount, Aman was made to wait for 45 minutes.
When Aman finally located the driver in the parking area, he was surprised to see the driver eating his food along with another delivery driver. When confronted, the driver responded nonchalantly with, “Do what you will,” and later, “What can I do?” This response left Aman bewildered, and he recorded the incident without any resistance from the driver.
The video went viral, amassing over 78K likes, with many commenters sharing similar negative experiences with Ola Foods. One customer mentioned that their order, marked as picked up in the app, never arrived, and attempts to contact the driver went unanswered. They discovered that Ola Foods and its delivery partner lacked a proper complaint system, although they eventually received a refund after being told their order was canceled. Another issue raised was the unavailability of Cash-on-Delivery (COD) for food deliveries.
Aman’s post sparked widespread criticism of Ola Foods, with one customer highlighting the company’s poor customer service and the deceptive practice of luring customers with good deals only to provide subpar service once they are hooked. This customer noted that drivers often looked for ways to exploit customers, leading them to stop using Ola Foods despite limited alternatives.
Aman’s video spread across social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), and was picked up by local media in Noida. Despite the public outcry, media reports indicated that Ola had not yet taken any action regarding Aman’s complaint.
