Senate President Chiz Escudero Ready To Give Go Signal on Mayor Alice Guo’s Arrest If Requested

CHIZ ESCUDERO – The Senate President is ready to sign the arrest warrant against Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.

Currently, one of the most popular politicians in the Philippine political industry is Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo. She is facing questions over her identity as well as her alleged involvement in the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in the country.

Mayor Guo could not recall where she was born while her Birth Certificate states that her birthplace was in Barangay Matatalaib in Tarlac. Then, Tarlac was still a municipality. Guo’s Birth Certificate is facing cancellation over the inconsistencies in her documents and testimonies.

Furthermore, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) previously confirmed that Guo’s fingerprints match with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping which suggests that they are the same person. The issues involving the Bamban, Tarlac Mayor as well as the allegations against her hooked national attention.

One of the lawmakers who questions Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo during the previous hearings was Sen. Risa Hontiveros, the chairperson of the Committee on Women and Children. Today, a hearing is set in the Senate but Mayor Alice Guo’s lawyer previously expressed that she won’t be able to attend the hearing.

According to Attorney Stephen David, the Mayor is traumatized by the treatment to her during the previous Senate hearings. The lawyer also explained that Guo is emotionally and physically drained by the many allegations against her.

Following the statement that Mayor Alice Guo will not be able to attend the Senate hearing set today, Sen. Risa Hontiveros reminded the Mayor and her camp that they have the obligation to respect the laws in the Philippines.

The camp of the Mayor asserted “self-incrimination” which the Senator tagged as an overused alibi. She stressed that self-incrimination only applies when there is a question raised.

Amid the announcement of the camp of Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo that she will not be able to attend the Senate hearing set today, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero is ready to sign an arrest warrant against the Mayor if it is needed. Based on a report on ABS-CBN news, the Senate President stressed that it is not the call of the Mayor or her camp whether or not to attend the hearing when there is a sub-poena as it is mandated.

Sen. Chiz Escudero is also ready to give his approval in case Sen. Hontiveros would request for a warrant of arrest to force Mayor Guo to attend the Senate hearing. According to him, in case of health reasons, a medical certificate must be presented to justify why the person cannot attend the Senate hearing.
