Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero Speaks on Mayor Alice Guo, Other Personalities with Arrest Order
CHIZ ESCUDERO – The Senate President is disappointed over the failure of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to locate Mayor Alice Guo.
Suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is one of the personalities who are accused of involvement in the illegal POGO operations in Tarlac. The inconsistency in her statements and documents have sparked a lot of questions and gave birth to the investigation regarding her identity.
It was found out by the National Bureau of Investigation that the fingerprints of Mayor Alice Guo matched with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national who entered the Philippines in 2003. She claimed that she grew up in a farm and she was homeschooled — her latter statement became a ground for contempt after it was found out that she was not under homeschooling.
Mayor Alice Guo skipped the July 10 hearing set by the Senate. The committee cited the suspended Mayor for contempt which led to the release of the Senate arrest order against Mayor Guo.
However, until now, the authorities have yet to locate Mayor Alice Guo. She was not located in any of her registered addresses which the authorities visited. They also went to her farm and garments factories but found negative presence of the suspended politician.
Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero who signed the arrest order against Mayor Alice Guo is disappointed of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the other law enforcement bodies’ failure to locate the mayor. Based on a report on GMA News, the Senate President stressed that Bureau of Immigration (BI) said that the Mayor is still in the country.
“Oo, nakakahiya, kahiya-hiya para sa PNP na hindi magawa ito, lalo na na nandito pa naman daw sila sa bansa,” Escudero said in a quick interview.
Based on the report, the Senate President also mentioned the authorities’ failure to locate the other personalities with an arrest order. According to him, there are individuals with arrest orders who have bigger cases.
Meanwhile, despite his disappointment over the PNP and the other law enforcement bodies’ failure to locate Mayor Alice Guo, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero is not in favor of lowering the budget for the PNP and the NBI. He stressed that it will only lower the chances of the authorities finding the persons with arrest orders.
“Hindi naman ito carrot and stick [na] paparusahan mo kapag may mali, kapag hindi naubos ang budget. Kailangan tingnan natin lahat ng circumstances sa paligid noon,” the Senate President said.
