In the Philippine political industry, two (2) of the most popular surnames are the Aquino and the Marcos. Two (2) members of each clan have served as the chief executives of the country. Undeniably, in the country, the Aquinos and the Marcoses are known as political rivals.
The political rivals began when the late former dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was ousted. After the EDSA People Power Revolution that removed Marcos Sr. from the presidency, the late former Pres. Cory Aquino assumed the post.
In 2012, President Cory’s only son, the late former Pres. Noynoy Aquino, won the presidential race. In 2022, Marcos Sr.’s only son, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, won the presidential race. Currently, the Aquinos are silent in the political side and they are visibly focusing on the treatment of Kris Aquino who is still in the United States.
It’s been more than a year since Kris flew abroad for her treatment. She has multiple auto-immune diseases but what makes the treatment even more challenging is that she is allergic to a lot of medicines. Her social media presence has reduced but she posts updates from time to time.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos said that the visit of the sons of Kris was to show gratitude to the First Lady who helped them in their travel arrangements. Bimby and Josh brought a box of souvenirs and gifts for the wife of the President.
Pres. Marcos stressed that their families are really on the different sides of the political aisle but although they don’t agree politically, they have always been okay. He also revealed that the First Lady is related to the Aquinos that is why she knows her nephews really well.
