DENTAL HYGIENIST BOARD EXAM RESULT MAY 2024 – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) just released the board exam result.
As announced, 17 out of 41 examinees passed the May 2024 Dental Hygienist board exam.

DENTAL HYGIENIST BOARD EXAM RESULT MAY 2024 – The list of passers is expected to release on or before June 3, 2024 or in 1 working day after the last day of board exam.
PRC conducted the written phase of the board exam on May 30, 2024 and the practical phase of the board exam on May 31, 2024 at testing centers in Metro Manila.
OIC/Member Melinda L. Garcia and members Carlito D. Paragas, Rodolfo R. Drapete, Gloria M. Bumanlag, and Merlin A. Go of the PRC Board of Dentistry administered the board examinations.

I. BASIC MEDICAL AND DENTAL SCIENCES (Cluster I)
A. GENERAL AND ORAL ANATOMY
General Anatomy II – The study of the head and neck with anatomical details on the skull, face, oral cavity and other maxillofacial structures.
Oral Anatomy – The study of the morphology of deciduous and permanent dentition, the macroscopic or gross structure of the human teeth, their contact with each other in the dental arches, alignment, occlusion including growth and development of the skull and jaws.
B. GENERAL AND ORAL PHYSIOLOGY
General Physiology -It deals with the integration of the different cells and organs into a functional human body with emphasis given to the practical application to dentistry.
Oral Physiology – The physiology of the stomatognathic system and occlusion and its application to dental practice.
C. GENERAL and ORAL PATHOLOGY
General Pathology – The study of the origin and the basic reaction of cells or tissues to abnormal stimuli underlying all diseases with emphasis on the pathologic processes of the oral cavity.
Oral Pathology – It deals with the gross and microscopic abnormalities as well as the clinical manifestations of oral diseases.
II. CLINICAL DENTAL SUBJECTS I (Cluster II)
A. ORAL DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT PLANNING
The familiarization of the principles and procedures on how dentists make a diagnosis and treatment planning.
B. ANESTHESIOLOGY AND PHARMACOLOGY
Anesthesiology – The understanding of the principles and techniques of regional anesthesia in dental practice and the study of the pharmacology of different local anesthetics used by dentists. It also includes topics regarding general anesthesia and conscious sedation.
Pharmacology – It deals with mechanism of drug action on living tissue that is used in prevention and treatment of diseases as prescribed by dentists.
C. ROENTGENOLOGY
The study of the different types of radiographic apparatus, their operations, application and maintenance. It also includes the processing, mounting, reading and interpretation of the radiographs.
D. DENTAL JURISPRUDENCE AND PRACTICE MANAGEMENT
Dental Jurisprudence – The relation of law and ethics to dental practice.
Practice Management – The practice of dentistry in relation to the social, economic and cultural conditions of the community.
E. DENTAL EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS, BASIC COMPUTER/DIGITAL DENTISTRY
The study of the basic principles of computer science and its application in the practice of the dental profession.
III. CLINICAL DENTAL SUBJECTS II (Cluster III)
A. PERIODONTOLOGY
The study of the normal and abnormal periodontium, together withthe etiology, pathology and dentist’s management of periodontal diseases.
B. PEDIATRIC AND ORTHODONTIC DENTISTRY
Pediatric Dentistry – The understanding of the principles and techniques in the dentist’s management of the child with dental problems including treatment of injuries and interceptive orthodontics.
Orthodontic Dentistry – The study of growth and development of both normal and abnormal craniofacial structures and their relation to the stomatognathic system. It also includes understanding of the dentist’s approach in the prevention, interception and treatment of malocclusion.
C. OTHER CLINICAL DENTISTRY SUBJECTS
1. RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY & PROSTHODONTICS
Restorative Dentistry – The familiarization of the principles of cavity preparation and mastering the manipulation of filling materials necessary for the dentist in restoring carious teeth.
Prosthodontics – The familiarization of the various fixed, removable partial or complete denture prosthesis and prosthetic implant restorations considering the biologic requirements for the normal functions and aesthetics.
2. ENDODONTICS
The understanding of the dentist’s approach in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the dental pulp and periradicular tissues.
3. ORAL SURGERY I
The understanding of the general principles of surgery and its application in dentistry.
