Ogie Diaz reacts to FAMAS’s disrespect of veteran actress Eva Darren
OGIE DIAZ – The talent manager and vlogger slammed the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards (FAMAS) for disrespecting veteran actress Eva Darren.
In a Facebook post on Monday, May 27, Ogie expressed disbelief at FAMAS’s explanation that they couldn’t locate the actress’s seat, leading to her immediate replacement. She was supposed to present an award with esteemed actor and former Film Development Council of the Philippines chair, Tirso Cruz III.
“Sabi ng Famas spokesperson ba yon? Hindi raw ma-locate ang seat ni Ms. Eva Darren, kaya nagkaroon ng last minute replacement sa stage. Sorry for my word, put—- ina naman, sa tanda naman ni Ms. Eva, saan naman kaya siya pupunta? Nagte-table hopping ba siya? Nagyosi sa backstage? Nag-jog sa Quirino Grandstand? Namamasyal sa Luneta? Mga palaka kayo!” he said.
Ogie Diaz also shared that someone told him that FAMAS gave awards to those who didn’t deserve them just because they were major sponsors. “Tapos, inabala nyo yung matandang nirerespeto sa industriya para lang mabastos sa Gabi ng Parangal? Iba talaga ang tinitingnan sa tinititigan.” he stressed.
Meanwhile, social media, especially on X, is abuzz with discussions about the supposedly deleted poster of the list of presenters for FAMAS. It was noted that Eva Darren’s photo and name were absent. This contradicts the official statement from the award-giving body that they just couldn’t find the veteran actress’s seat, leading to her immediate replacement.
Sheena Palad, the “young singer” who replaced Eva Darren, addressed the backlash she received for replacing Eva at a FAMAS event. Sheena explained that she was initially scheduled to perform only during the awards night. However, a FAMAS staff member approached her last minute to substitute for Eva, who was already at the venue.
