Former FDCP Chairperson Liza Diño Files Case Against PEP
LIZA DIÑO – The former chairperson of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) filed charges against PEP and the personalities involved in the articles published about her.
The Film Development Council of the Philippines was headed by Liza Diño, the wife of singer-songwriter Ice Seguerra, for several years. She started serving the national film agency in 2016 and her term lasted until 2019. It was further extended until 2021. However, during her stint, there were several issues and accusations that she faced.
There were several instances when the name of Liza Diño was on headlines over the issues about her FDCP leadership. Recently, the former chairperson of the national film agency filed a case against Pep and the personalities involved for allegedly tainting her name with alleged “twisted facts” and manipulation of public opinion.
At the Office of the Prosecutor of Quezon City, former FDCP chairperson Liza Diño filed charges against PEP and the personalities involved in the pursuit of reclaiming her name and reputation. Her husband, singer-songwriter Ice Seguerra, was full support to her at the filing of the complaint.
According to Liza, it took her almost a year before she arrived at the decision of demanding accountability. She talked to her husband and her family and she initially decided to just keep quiet.
“The entertainment industry revolves around public opinion and by doing something like this, people might judge me all over again,” she wrote.
Liza Diño stressed that she came to a point when she asked why she is allowing the “falsa narrative to be the truth” when she knows the truth. In demanding for accountability, the former FDCP chairperson expressed that she refuses to engage in “trial by publicity and in fighting dirty”. She also expressed her trust in the justice system.
According to Liza, no matter what will be the result, she is relieved knowing that she stood up for herself and demanded accountability. The former FDCP chairperson further expressed that she has so much to look forward to and so many people in her life that she cherish.
PEP released an official statement following the decision of Liza Diño file charges. According to the entertainment website, it has yet to receive a copy of the complaint. It is ready to avail the legal remedies available once they received a copy of the complaint and it assured that it will cooperate with the QC OCP.
