Anne Curtis gives a reaction to senators who voted no on the divorce bill

ANNE CURTIS – The actress-host responded to the initial results of a survey conducted by Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada regarding the views of senators on the divorce bill.

Based on Estrada’s recently publicized survey, senators in favor of the divorce bill include Senator Risa Hontiveros, Senator Robin Padilla, Senator Grace Poe, Senator Imee Marcos, and Senator Pia Cayetano.

On the other hand, those opposed to the proposal reportedly include Senate President Chiz Escudero, Senator Francis Tolentino, Senator Joel Villanueva, Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, and even Estrada himself.

“Puro lalake ung nag no. (laughing emoji),” Anne reacted in her X post on Thursday, May 30. It can be recalled that on May 22, 2024, House Bill 9349 or the Absolute Divorce Bill passed its third and final hearing in the House of Representatives with 126 lawmakers voting in favor, 109 against, and 20 abstentions.

Meanwhile, the Senate version of the divorce bill is pending its second hearing in the plenary. Divorce is the legal termination of a marital union, allowing both parties to remarry. It dissolves the bonds of matrimony, usually due to irreconcilable differences, infidelity, or abandonment. The process involves legal proceedings to address matters such as child custody, spousal support, and asset division.

Divorce can be emotionally taxing, affecting not only the spouses but also their children and extended families. Counseling and mediation are often utilized to navigate the complexities and mitigate conflicts. While divorce offers a chance for a fresh start from an unhappy marriage, it can also bring about financial strain and emotional turmoil. Its impact resonates long after the legalities are settled, shaping the lives of those involved for years to come.
