PNP Revoke Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s Firearm Permits
QUIBOLOY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) canceled the firearm licenses of fugitive pastor Apollo Quiboloy in light of ongoing legal proceedings.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, a religious figure closely associated with former President Rodrigo Duterte, is currently facing multiple arrest warrants alleging child abuse, sexual assault, trafficking, exploitation, and discrimination.
According to firearm possession regulations, individuals seeking ownership should not have previous convictions or pending criminal charges carrying a penalty exceeding two years.
Based on a report from Inquirer, Apollo Quiboloy owns 19 firearms, one of which had an expired license as of March, as disclosed by PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo. Senator Risa Hontiveros, leading a Senate inquiry into accusations against Quiboloy, expressed concerns regarding the Philippine National Police (PNP) delaying the revocation of his firearm licenses.
Recently, Hontiveros shared social media screenshots portraying members of KOJC dressed in camouflage attire and carrying weapons.
On Friday, Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil supported the recommendation from the Firearms and Explosives Office to revoke the firearm ownership license of fugitive preacher Apollo Quiboloy, as confirmed by PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo.
The decision was based on Section 4 (g) of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (Republic Act No. 10591), which prohibits granting a firearms license to individuals with prior convictions or current allegations in pending criminal cases carrying a penalty exceeding two years.
Quiboloy is facing charges of child abuse, sexual assault, trafficking, exploitation, and discrimination in two separate court cases. Fajardo noted that Quiboloy, who is still at large, possesses 19 firearms, with one of them already having an expired license as of March this year.
