Here’s the reaction of Paolo Contis to the transfer of ‘It’s Showtime’ to GMA
PAOLO CONTIS – The former host of “Tahanang Pinakamasaya,” reportedly expressed happiness for the new home of “It’s Showtime” on the GMA Network.
In an exclusive interview with GMA News last Monday, March 25, Paolo was asked if he is open to the possibility of working with the hosts of the said noontime show. “Oo, work is work,” Paolo replied.
He also mentioned that some of them are his friends, especially Ogie Alcasid, whom he worked with on “Bubble Gang” for several years. “And I’m very happy na mayroon silang lugar,” he added.
It can be recalled that after the contract signing last Wednesday, March 20, ABS-CBN and GMA 7 released a joint statement announcing the official airing of “It’s Showtime” in its new home. On the other hand, Unkabogable star Vice Ganda expressed profound gratitude to the said TV network for accepting them.
To recall. it was on June 20, 2023 when ABS-CBN and GMA Network revealed via social media that It’s Showtime would begin simulcasting on GMA’s sister network, GTV, starting July 1. A contract signing ceremony between the executives of both networks took place on June 28. Initially, the simulcast was limited to 2 hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from September to November 2023 due to NCAA Season 99 broadcasts.
The show temporarily ceased airing on October 13, 2023, due to a 12-day suspension by the MTRCB, with It’s Your Lucky Day airing in its place until October 27. Upon its return on October 28, It’s Showtime aired from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on weekdays and 12 noon to 3:00 pm on Saturdays, later changing to 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm on all days.
In a media event on March 20, 2024, ABS-CBN and GMA Network announced an extension of the simulcast to include GMA Pinoy TV and Kapuso Stream starting April 6, 2024, replacing its rival program Tahanang Pinakamasaya. The contract signing occurred at Studio 7 of the GMA Network Center.
