After Backlash, 4th Impact Deletes Gofundme Page for Dogs

4TH IMPACT – The GoFundMe link created by the all-Filipino girl group for their donation drive to establish a “dream land” for their 200 dogs has been taken down. This happened after they received a lot of criticism on social media for starting a fundraising campaign to buy a bigger piece of land for their 200 Shih Tzu dogs.

The girl group consists of sisters Elvira, Irene, Mylene, and Celina Cercado. They began asking for donations from the public on February 28, 2024, by creating a GoFundMe page titled “DREAM LAND FOR OUR 200 SHIH TZU DOGS,” to raise $10,000 or around PHP 560,275.

In their post, Elvira shared how their love for Shih Tzus began and eventually led to them caring for many dogs. Due to complaints from neighbors about the noise from their dogs, they decided to seek help from the public through fundraising to move the dogs to a new home.

Critics quickly emerged, questioning why 4th Impact had so many dogs if they couldn’t provide for their needs. Some called them “irresponsible dog owners” for allowing their pets to breed unchecked through backyard breeding. Animal shelter groups, including the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), expressed disappointment, stating that 4th Impact likely broke the law by not getting the necessary permits for keeping a large number of animals.

According to Anna Cabrera, executive director of PAWS, the law requires permits for keeping more than two animals, especially if they are breeding. Cabrera emphasized the irresponsibility of not neutering pets, leading to overpopulation and strain on shelters already struggling to find homes for animals.

As of now, 4th Impact, which gained recognition after appearing on the British television show “The X Factor” in 2015, has not released any statement regarding the issue.
