Maria Carmela Brosas, better known as K Brosas, is a multi-talented Filipina entertainer, excelling as a singer, comedian, and actress. Her journey to fame began in comedy bars across Manila, where she gained popularity as a comedian and performer, eventually expanding her horizons into the music scene.
Beyond her achievements in music, K Brosas has delved into acting, making appearances in television shows and films. Recognized for her sharp wit, humor, and lively personality, she has become a well-known figure in the Philippine entertainment industry.
K Brosas is mourning the recent loss of her mother and has conveyed her affection and appreciation through a heartfelt message. The comedian shared the sad news on her Instagram page on Friday, Feb. 23, using a black-and-white photo featuring silhouettes of a dove along with the words “Rest in Peace.”
In the caption of the post, she wrote: “Mama, maraming maraming salamat sa lahat (thank you so much for everything). I love you. Rest in heaven’s glory.”
On her Instagram Stories, Brosas shared pictures of them captured in 2016 and 2019 during their time in Italy, where the rest of her family resides.
Condolences and prayers flooded the comments section from fans and fellow celebrities, including messages from Pokwang, Vina Morales, Darren Espanto, Arnel Pineda, and Candy Pangilinan.
Brosas’ mother, who adopted and raised her, is the sister of the comedian’s biological mother. Referring to her with affection, Brosas commonly addressed her as “Mama” in previous interviews.
During an interview with broadcaster Karen Davila in October 2023, Brosas opened up about her relationship with her Mama and revealed that their last conversation occurred during the peak of the pandemic. She acknowledged that a misunderstanding had caused them to lose touch.
“‘Yung mama ko, ‘yung nagpalaki sa akin, sa kanya ako concerned kasi sa kanya malaki ‘yung utang na loob ko. Siya nagpaaral sa akin, siya nagpakain sa akin, siya lahat,” Brosas said.
