Lawyer of Raymart Santiago Reacts to Claudine Barretto’s Interview with Luis Manzano
RAYMART SANTIAGO – The legal counsel of the action star has released an official statement regarding the controversial interview of Claudine Barretto, on the YouTube channel of Kapamilya TV host Luis Manzano, titled “Luis Listens.”
In the said vlog, Claudine shared some details about the pending case between her and her estranged husband, related to their separation. However, in a statement sent to ABS-CBN News, Raymart’s lawyer noted that there is a gag order issued by the court instructing both parties not to mention any reactions, comments, or statements regarding the ongoing case.
“We will not address, dignify, or respond to any statements made by Ms. Barretto regarding our client, for doing so is a breach of the Gag Order issued by the Honorable Court where the parties’ case for nullity of marriage is undergoing trial,” said Raymart’s lawyer.
He added that the court’s Gag Order, issued on September 20, 2023, instructs both parties to avoid expressing, making defamatory statements or comments, or answering questions about the other party. They are also prohibited from publicizing such information through print, broadcast media, or digital media. The Gag Order continues to be binding on both parties.
Furthermore, the statement added, “In light of the foregoing, we remind Ms. Barretto and all other media outlets that making, airing, and publishing defamatory statements about our client are violations of a court order.”
The lawyer emphasized that nobody is exempt from the law and issued a stern warning regarding Ms. Barretto’s actions, stating that her making false, malicious, and defamatory statements about their client constitutes blatant violations of the Gag Order imposed by the court overseeing the nullity proceedings.
Their camp further asserted their commitment to taking all necessary legal actions to safeguard their client’s rights, expressing confidence that the truth concerning the matter will be revealed in the appropriate forum. They reiterated their trust in the judicial system of their country, emphasizing its track record of upholding due process, justice, and the rule of law.
The two got married in 2004 but separated in 2013. Currently, their annulment is in progress in court.
