Jiro Manio sells his Best Actor trophy to Pinoy Pawnstars by Boss Toyo
JIRO MANIO – The award-winning actor offered to sell his Best Actor trophy to Boss Toyo for 500,000 pesos.
Jiro Manio is a former actor whose career started at the age of seven in the film “Pamana.” He gained recognition for his roles in films such as “Magnifico,” for which he received the Best Actor award at the Gawad Urian and the Best Child Actor award at the FAMAS in 2004. He later transitioned to GMA Network in 2010, appearing in the show “Pilyang Kerubin.”
However, Manio’s life took a difficult turn as he battled substance abuse. His struggles led to personal and legal challenges, including being spotted at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in 2015. Despite offers of assistance from fellow artists, he declined help and expressed a reluctance to continue his acting career.
Jiro Manio’s personal life also includes fathering two daughters out of wedlock with his longtime partner. He underwent rehabilitation for drug addiction in 2011 and faced a frustrated homicide case in 2020. Despite these challenges, he received support from his foster father, Andrew, and manager, Maryo J. delos Reyes.
After being released from a rehabilitation center in 2016, Manio faced health issues and ultimately refused to continue his work as an actor. After some time, he decided to undergo rehab again where he was able to finish high school. Presently, he’s a volunteer counselor at DOH Bataan Rehabilitation.
The former actor appeared on Pinoy Pawnstars of Boss Toyo to sell his Gawad Urian Best Actor trophy. He initially offered Jayson Luzadas P500K. The latter, on the other hand, bid for P50K. In the end, they agreed on a P75K price.
Gawad Urian has yet to comment on the selling of his award. Accordingly, Jiro decided to sell his award to add it as a collection to the museum that Boss Toyo is planning to build.
