JERICHO ROSALES and KIM JONES – A close friend of the couple has confirmed that they are indeed separated.
What’s surprising is the revelation that the actor and the Filipino-British model-digital creative parted ways back in 2019, keeping their true relationship status hidden from the public for almost five years. Ricco Ocampo, owner of i2i eyewear and a godfather to Jericho and Kim’s wedding, confirmed the separation through an official statement released to ABS-CBN News on Monday, January 29, 2024.
According to Ocampo, despite their decision to end their marriage, the two remain “very good friends.” He described their separation as a “mutual decision” and an “amicable separation,” but did not provide details on the reasons behind it.
In his statement, Ocampo mentioned, “While the friendship between the two remains, they have decided it is time to lead separate lives. They are encouraging each other to grow, albeit in different directions. It was a mutual decision, an amicable separation, dealt with grace and maturity by both parties.”
According to him, the couple were grateful for the beautiful memories they shared and the lessons they learned during their time together. Ocampo emphasized that their separation was handled with respect and care, highlighting that Echo and Kim are best friends who love each other like family.
“This split is not borne out of ill feelings. On the contrary, one might say that it is a demonstration of their affection and respect, as Echo and Kim only wish the best for each other,” added Ocampo.
The couple also thanked those who supported them throughout their nearly five years of togetherness and requested respect for their privacy during this time. Despite their separation, their collaborations in work, such as a film where Kim serves as the writer, director, and actress, while Echo acts as the producer, will continue.
Rumors about Jericho and Kim’s separation had circulated since 2022, but whenever the actor was asked about it by the entertainment press, he vehemently denied or avoided discussing it. Jericho and Kim tied the knot through an intimate garden wedding ceremony at Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort & Spa on Boracay Island, Aklan, on May 1, 2014. The couple did not have any children.
