Elle Villanueva: “Noong first project pa lang namin inisip ko, ‘Gay ba talaga siya?'”
ELLE VILLANUEVA – The actress admitted to asking her boyfriend, actor Derrick Monasterio, point blank if he was gay.
The celebrity couple came out as a couple in August last year, after months of their no-label relationship. They are set to star in the Kapuso afternoon series titled “Makiling”, which will premiere on January 8, 2024.
Derrick and Elle appeared on Tuesday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” where they talked about Derrick’s gender.
In an interview with Boy Abunda, Elle said that she was aware of the gay rumors swirling about Derrick and said it might have been because the actor was constantly surrounded by members of the LGBT+ community in the showbiz industry.
She also shared how she used Derrick’s gay rumors to reassure her mother when she was with him. According to the actress, her mother is strict because she’s an only child.
“Para payagan ako na kasama si Derrick, sinabi ko kay mommy, ‘Mommy bakla siya. You don’t have to worry,’” she shared. “Pero ngayon alam na po niya. So nagulat na lang po siya ‘Sinusundo si Elle sa Baguio. Bakla? Paano nangyari ‘yon?’”
When asked if she asked Derrick about his gender identity, Elle said yes and told Tito Boy that she’s very straightforward with him.
