Elderly Man From Lucena City Walked for 3 Days to Go Home in Camarines Sur
An elderly man who walked from Lucena City to go home in Camarines Sur received help from MEDRRMO-Goa responders.
Tatay Rudy Abad gained attention online for walking from Lucena City to Goa in Camarines Sur. Eventually, the elderly man successfully reached the town of Goa. After walking tirelessly for several days.
Zein Corporal Espiritu shared the story on Facebook, recounting how they encountered Tatay Rudy walking in the Tagkawayan area of Quezon. Abad had been walking for almost three days from Lucena City, determined to return to his province.
Espiritu and his companions provided Tatay Rudy with food and financial assistance without hesitation. The senior citizen caught the attention of many, prompting locals to extend their help and support.
Goa Local Government Unit (LGU) quickly responded by coordinating with the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) in Del Gallego upon learning of the old man’s situation. The LGU arranged Tatay Rudy’s transportation, ensuring his safety and comfort.
LGU and responders from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in Goa coordinated and provided a bus for the elderly man. Tatay Rudy was escorted to his home barangay in Payatan.
The local government expressed gratitude to everyone who helped Tatay Rudy in making his journey home a reality.
Currently, he is reunited with his community in Barangay Payatan, expressing gratitude for the support he received along his journey.
