Dad declines to buy his daughter an iPhone 15 Pro Max, and her response is unexpected

iPhone 15 Pro Max – A dad took to Reddit, where he shared his conversation with his daughter after declining to buy the expensive phone.

In a Reddit post, Able_Texas5286 shared that their child is asking them to buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max. Able_Texas5286 told their daughter that they couldn’t afford to buy her the said smartphone, which cost PHP 84,500. Able_Texas5286 also mentioned that their child already has an old iPhone. She wants a new one because all her friends have the said phone.

Even though they refused to buy the iPhone 15 Pro Max, they gave their daughter the option. They offered her an iPhone 13, which costs PHP 42,990. Able_Texas5286 thought the iPhone 13 would be a good option as it has a good camera and battery life, and it looks the same as every other iPhone. However, their child rejected that option. For them, it’s just a waste of money.

“My daughter then got mad at me and said I’m ruining her life and that her best friend has a 15 Pro Max.” Because of this, the couple is considering buying what their child wants. And when they buy it, they will tell her, “…it’s a big gift.”

Able_Texas5286’s post has received 9.6K comments from netizens. One commenter shared that when a father hears the phrase “You’re ruining my life!” from his child more than once, it effectively means he’s playing his role as a father. It suggests that he knows how to discipline his child.

Another user advised Able_Texas5286 not to let guilt affect them if they can’t fulfill their child’s wishes. Additionally, they said, “An iPhone 13 is still a new and good phone.” Others argued that not having the said phone won’t ruin the life of an eleven-year-old, especially when compared to the life of a matured individual without one.
