Singer Bugoy Drilon confirmed the passing of fellow Pinoy Dream Academy scholar Hansen Nichols.
Hansen, 40, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, after battling cancer. He was a survivor of stage 4 thyroid cancer.

Hansen Nichols, a former Pinoy Dream Academy scholar, has died
HANSEN NICHOLS – The former Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA) scholar passed away at the age of 40 after battling cancer.
His death was confirmed by his friend and fellow PDA scholar Bugoy Drilon. In a heartfelt message, Bugoy expressed his deep love and gratitude for Sen, referring to him as his core friend and brother. He praised Sen’s selfless nature, recounting how he always prioritized others over himself and believed in Bugoy’s journey and career.
Bugoy acknowledged Sen’s valiant effort, expressing pride in his resilience and calling him a great warrior. He fondly remembered Sen’s laughter, hugs, and wisdom, highlighting the inspiration Sen provided to many lives. Bugoy expressed happiness that Sen was surrounded by love until his last breath and declared his anticipation for the world to hear the songs he composed for Sen.
Bugoy ended his message with an assurance that it’s not a goodbye, as he believes they will meet again in heaven. He pledged to keep Sen in his prayers and cherish the memories they shared. Numerous condolences poured in from other showbiz personalities, offering sympathy for Bugoy’s loss and acknowledging the impact of Sen’s passing.
“You fought very well and your hardest and I am so proud of you!!! You did your best to stay with us. You are a great warrior!” he noted.
Meanwhile, it was just last year that Hansen was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, but Hansen remained positive despite the challenge, sharing his journey on his Facebook page. Before being diagnosed with lung cancer, he was a survivor of stage 4 thyroid cancer.
Hansen first gained recognition as one of the top contenders in Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 in 2008, which was won by Laarni Lozada. Aside from Bugoy and Laarni, their other batchmates were Liezel Garcia, Van Pojas, Miguel Mendoza, the couple Chivas and Bunny Malonda, renowned voice actor Christian Alviar, and many others.iramay mula sa ibang showbiz personalities.
