EVAN NELLE – The La Salle Green Archers player said Kitty Duterte has been part of his journey.
Evan concluded his three-season UAAP career with a storybook ending, celebrating his first and final championship with La Salle, marked by a warm hug from Kitty Duterte, rumored to be his special someone.
Nelle played a pivotal role in ending La Salle’s seven-year championship drought, securing a 73-69 victory over the University of the Philippines in a decisive Game 3 of the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball championship, witnessed by a record-breaking crowd of 25,192 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Following the championship win, Kitty Duterte, daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte, joined the court to congratulate and embrace the graduating Green Archer. While Nelle didn’t disclose the nature of their relationship, he expressed gratitude to Duterte, acknowledging her support throughout his journey.
“She’s been with me through my journey. She helped me. I thank her a lot. She keeps me sane and happy,” Nelle shared with reporters.

Their heartwarming moment became a social media sensation, with fans coining their pairing as “KitNelle.” Nelle acknowledged the humorous online memes, particularly those naming him the “bravest man” for his association with the daughter of the strict and authoritative ex-president.
“It’s funny every time I open Facebook, it’s always…like you know what I won’t spend time on Facebook na. It’s really funny but to see it every day, there’s always something new. Sabi ko, ayoko na. Iba naman,” he remarked.
Nelle also expressed gratitude to the La Salle supporters among the record-breaking attendance, describing the UAAP crowd as wild and the experience as surreal as they secured their historic 10th championship.
