With a score of 74.9875%, a Bar taker nearly passed the exams
2023 BAR EXAMS – An examinee took to social media to lament after failing to pass the licensure for lawyers with a score of 74.9875%.
A total of 3,812 out of the 10,387 (a passing rate of 36.77%) who completed all the tests during the three days of the exams passed the 2023 Bar Examinations, according to Supreme Court Associate Justice Ramon Paul L. Hernando, Chairperson of the 2023 Supreme Court Committee on Bar Examinations.
The 2023 Bar Examinations were held on September 17, 20, and 24, 2023, in 14 local testing centers spread out across the National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The said Examinations were the 121st professional licensure tests conducted for Philippine lawyers.
Ephraim Porciuncula Bie, a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, topped this year’s Bar Examinations with the highest overall rating of 89.2625%. He was followed by Mark Josel Padual Vivit from Ateneo de Manila University with a score of 89.1250%. The third placer was Frances Camille Altonaga Francisco from San Beda University with a score of 88.9125%.
While the passers rejoiced for their victory, those who failed to pass the exams lamented. On Facebook, a certain Neon True Beldia, a Bar taker from Cor Jesu College Law School, shared his sentiment after failing to pass the tests for lawyers. “Mao ning gina ingon na pag buot jud gihapon ni Lord! Try ta usab ah. Salamat, Lord,” he noted.
Neon was close to passing the exams with a 74.9875% score. Ultimately, the passing rate for the said exam is at 75%, meaning those who did not clinch the 75% rate automatically failed the tests despite a very small difference.
His post earned mixed reactions from netizens. Some told him to try again next time. In the caption of his post, Neon vowed that he will be taking next year’s Bar exams.
