Raquel Pempengco speaks about Jake Zyrus anew
RAQUEL PEMPENGCO – The mother of Jake Zyrus (formerly known as Charice Pempengco), denied the circulating rumor that her child is seeking another chance in singing from Oprah Winfrey and David Foster.
Raquel admitted that since her child decided to “change” himself, his market has weakened. In all honesty, she confessed that she wouldn’t invest in her child in his current state.
“Hindi naman totoo ‘yon, na bumabalik… kasi siyempre ikaw na rin ang mag-iisip, pinutol na nila ‘yong ano… kung ako rin naman si Oprah, bakit ko pa tutulungan ‘yong ganiyan ang hitsura kung hindi na talaga siya ano sa market,” she said. “Kung imamarket nila ‘yong katulad niya (Jake) mahihirapan sila,” Raquel added.
She mentioned that they will be using their own money, unlike the host Ellen DeGeneres, who generates her own funds. Even David Foster reportedly asked them if Jake could still sing “birit songs” like the hits of Barry Manilow.
However, it’s inevitable that Jake’s voice changed after undergoing a change. Raquel noted that the quality of his voice is still good, but it’s not like before when Jake used to belt out songs like “All By Myself,” “I Have Nothing,” and other feminine songs. In the said interview,
Raquel stated that she is ready to wait a lifetime for Jake to return. But contrary to this statement, Raquel Pempengco previously said that she is no longer hoping for Charice to come back.

He transitioned into acting by joining the cast of Glee in 2010 and later served as a judge on The X Factor Philippines in 2012. In 2013, Zyrus came out as a lesbian, but in 2017, he came out as a transgender male, adopting the name Jake Zyrus and discontinuing the use of “Charice Pempengco.” He underwent male chest reconstruction and began testosterone treatment.
