Here’s the latest update on the disappearance of Miss Grand Philippines 2023 candidate Catherine Camilon
CATHERINE CAMILON CASE – The Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr., provided an update on the disappearance of the Miss Grand Philippines 2023 candidate.
Camilon, a beauty queen and Grade 9 teacher, has been missing since October 12. She was last seen at a shopping mall in Lemery, Batangas. Since then, her family, particularly her sister and mother, haven’t been able to contact her.
According to Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr., there’s been “significant progress” in the investigation. In light of this, he urged those involved in her disappearance to surrender. “What can I say, there is significant progress in the investigation. And that’s why I am appealing now to those who are involved sana sumuko na,” he said.
However, Acorda declined to disclose any new information from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) concerning the case. Previously, it was reported that the person of interest in Catherine’s disappearance was identified. This individual, a police officer, was romantically linked to the missing beauty queen.
Another person of interest, facing estafa and carnapping charges, has been identified. This second person is the owner of the car used by Catherine on the day she went missing. It was discovered that the name and address on the car’s deed of sale were fake.
The first person of interest, a police major, is still under investigation and hasn’t provided any information about Camilon. A reward of PHP250,000 is still being offered for information regarding Catherine Camilon’s exact location. PHP50,000 from the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), PHP100,000 from the business sector in Region 4A, and another PHP100,000 from Batangas Vice-Governor Mark Leviste.
