Netizens express disappointment with the fast-food giant for its ‘treatment’ of the crew
TOO MUCH? – Netizens expressed disappointment with a fast-food giant when one of its crew members was instructed by the manager to go around and find customers.
In the said video, the crew is seen offering and personally delivering orders while walking. The crew was instructed by her manager to do so due to their sales. Accordingly, if she chooses to ride a jeep for deliveries, she will use her own money as it is not covered by the company.
This didn’t sit well with the netizens, and some gave mixed reactions to the video. One netizen wrote, “Kawawa naman, i will never ever do it sa mga employees ko. Nakakadurog ng puso.” Another netizen exclaimed: “Chowking, as a multi million or billion company, you can do better!”
One netizen called the attention of Kim Chiu and Kris Aquino, who are endorsers of the fast food giant. “Wtf! @chowking_ph ?! This is abuse and exploitation. @prinsesachinita and @KrisAquinoWORLD you guys endorse this kind of company?” noted the netizen.
As of press time, Chowking has yet to give any reaction regarding the video.
Meanwhile, Chowking, a Filipino fast-food chain specializing in Filipino Chinese cuisine, was founded by Robert Kuan in 1985, stemming from his family’s Ling Nam Wanton Parlor. Originally mirroring Ling Nam’s offerings, Chowking expanded and ventured into franchising in 1989.
Jollibee Foods Corporation took full ownership of Chowking in 2000, leading to store renovations for a refreshed corporate appearance. A ₱270-million modernization initiative in 2008 focused on streamlining the supply chain and enhancing manufacturing processes.
Internationally, Chowking entered the US market in 1995, Indonesia in 1998, and Dubai in 2004. Jollibee gained control of Chowking USA in 2011. Currently, Chowking operates in several international cities. The brand actively participates in Filipino events in Jakarta and has sponsored significant events, including the Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Márquez III boxing fundraiser.
