Her effort leads to a captivating voyage into the realm of Kyaraben or Character bento. This unique form of culinary art involves shaping rice into various anime characters, unleashing a world of creativity and fun for both her and her children.

“I made the first bento baon for my son three years ago, and it was just a simple rice ball. When he came back home he complained kasi hindi na daw circle yung riceball. Haha! So I googled how to do a proper rice ball/bento. Then dun ko po nadiscover yung Kyaraben or Character bento, where you shape the rice into different anime characters,” Melchi said.

Over time, Melchi’s talent blossomed, and her bento creations became increasingly inspired by her deep love and passion for anime. Her dedication to this art form led to her crafting some spooky bento designs, all to challenge her skills.

Now my son is in Elementary and the school provides their lunch, and I only have to make bento for my daughter once a week, so my creations lately were mainly inspired by my love and passion for animes. My kids were the ones eating them though, aside from the super creepy ones. I made those to challenge my skills,” she added.
